Old Quilts, Real History, and Why They’re Worth Collecting

I've been buying and selling old quilts for over a decade now. But to be honest, I didn't start really appreciating them until about 2 years ago. My grandmother had a few she handed down to me, and that inspired me to dig into their history a bit more. Now they are one of my favorite things to source and provide 😊 In case you're new to the world of American quilts, I thought I would share a brief history here today. For generations, American quilts weren’t decoration, they were more survival...

Hey there Reader, Is it just me, or do you feel like everything is telling you to hurry up? We live in a world that is more fast-paced than ever. And don't get me wrong . . . I love the convenience of being able to shop for groceries on my phone while watching my kid's basketball game. Multi-tasking is a key tool for mom life, right? 🤗 But just because we can do more faster doesn't mean we always should. There's a phrase going around right now called Slow Decorating. It embraces this idea of...

Hey there Reader, I've had a lot of questions from people on my Facebook page: "Are you gonna make any more YouTube videos?" The truth is, last year YouTube was hard. Full honesty: after tech headaches and a random harsh comment, I almost quit the whole platform last year. I ended up stepping back for a few months in early fall, and that helped. When you're running a creative business, taking a break and re-drawing boundaries can be essential sometimes. I was reminded that you can protect...

Welcome to 2026 🎉 I'm a firm believer that you can really make a fresh start any time you want, but there is something about the start of a new year that makes me feel inspired. I spent a lot of time over the holidays going through my business numbers and thinking about what I want to focus on in 2026. The numbers came first - because reality always drives my business decisions. I can't just do whatever I want . . . I need to be doing whatever is moving the needle and helping support my...

In three days I am dropping my oldest off at college. I'll be honest, I'm kind of a mess. Much more emotional than I thought I would be. He's late in starting because he was wait-listed for the fall semester. The school he is going to is very, very small, and hard to get into. They do this incredibly cool thing where every student works 15 hours a week on campus, and in exchange pays no tuition. The only thing they have to pay for is room, board, and books. Admission there isn't based so much...

A wall of bookshelves filled with many books.

Last week my husband left town a few days for work. Here is the text I sent him midway through his first travel day: Since he is an amazing husband, he just laughed and responded with, "It's better than 1,000 armoires." So over the next two days, my teenage boys helped me load up 1,000 books plus 10 book shelves from this guy's storage unit, and haul them into my house. I made a reel about it on my Facebook page, and it prompted lots of questions. I'm not known for buying in bulk like this ....

My boys absolutely love gingerbread cookies. Those weren't one of the cookies my mom made growing up, so I had to adult a bit and find my own recipe. Thanks to a 2009 Christmas issue of a Southern Living Magazine, I have one that's our go-to. They really are delicious. And not too hard to make. But as for the decorating . . . I just can't get them to look cute. This was my best effort this year 😜 And honestly from here, it was just downhill . . . the later ones got pretty messy. When I first...

Hey Reader, I'll be honest and say I have a love/hate relationship with social media. I enjoy being able to follow along with my high school friends over on Facebook and see what sort of decor styles are trending over on Instagram. But I also get a bit weary of the never-ending notifications, the humble brag posts, and the wasted-time doom scrolls. On a personal level, I could live without social media . . . But as a business owner, it's absolutely essential. Without social media, I probably...

Hey Reader, Happy Thanksgiving Week! I wanted to get started a little early this year with my Black Friday specials. As a small business owner, it's hard to run a big sale. We don't tend to have quite the margins the big guys do. But once a year, I try to pull together something pretty special for you all. I hope you're as excited about this year's offer as I am :) Now until November 29, you can grab 4 of my booth and vintage reselling guides bundled together for just $29 🙌🏻 Some of these are...
